Me Time
I never really thought about how important solitude was until my late 20′s. Society says that we’re social creatures and anyone that doesn’t fall into that category is easily alienated. What a load of crap.
Growing up I always felt that being surrounded by people was the right thing to do. Being alone was something that I hated because the only thoughts in my head were how to become popular. I envied my brother because he was always surrounded by the hottest chicks and coolest guys. I had my core group of friends but I wasn’t popular.
Fast forward a few years and not only am I extremely social, but I cherish the times that I am all alone. It’s in those times where I can reflect, dig deep inside my character and challenge myself in ways that only internal thoughts can. Me time is so important and I feel it’s an essential requirement for anyone that has a passion for growth. I give myself an hour each day where not a single outside person enters my time. Thirty minutes on my way to work and the thirty minute drive home are almost therapeutic that calms any stress I might feel.
I truly believe that everyone should find some time out everyday where they can embrace solitude and bask in it’s knowledge that will reveal itself over time.
